I’m stranded here An islet in the sea of nowhere Somewhere past the Cape of no hope Still casting a sail cos I can’t give up There are monsters here My harpoons are rusty and no rope & on & on & on past oblivion Half life, no life, new life, Who knows? You came as a surprise With gifts to share Compliments, kindness, sex I got used to you coming around It gave me a little confidence I learned to love sweet potatoes Cubed and spiced Still do… Our banter was prime Bojack horseman gave you Your best lines I had forgotten intimacy You returned it to me And when you left It was a surprise too I guess you loved him all along We were just filling gaps In our memories Reclaiming some lost territories That had fallen into the abyss You left me with one last gift Falling from your purse The gift of loneliness And a sense That maybe I could love again.
